Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated: 6/8/2026 · This policy explains how cancellations work, why printed books are final sale, how defects are handled, and how and when refunds are issued.

The short version:

Every Memsy book is custom-made from your family’s photos to a single, personalised copy. For that reason all printed books are final sale and cannot be returned or refunded once production has started. You can cancel your subscription at any time from the dashboard; no future books will be printed or billed. Defective or damaged books are always replaced or refunded.

1. Custom-made books are non-refundable

Each Memsy hardcover photo book is produced as a one-of-one, on-demand item using photos that you and your family have shared in your private WhatsApp group, in the layout, cover style and cover image you selected. Because the finished book has no resale value to anyone other than you, and because production cannot be reversed once it starts, all sales of printed books are final and no returns, exchanges or refunds are offered after a book enters production. By placing an order you acknowledge that you have read and agree to this term. This disclosure is provided to you in advance of purchase, in compliance with state-level requirements including California Civil Code § 1723 and New York General Business Law § 218-a, and is reinforced by a checkout acknowledgement and a sitewide footer link.

2. The cut-off: your window to make changes

Each billing cycle has a cut-off date, shown in your dashboard. Before the cut-off you can add or remove photos, reorder them, choose the cover image, change your book style or shipping address, or cancel the upcoming book entirely. At the cut-off the current selection is finalised and sent to print, after which that specific book can no longer be changed, cancelled or refunded.

3. Subscription cancellation

Your Memsy subscription has no minimum term and no cancellation fee. You can cancel at any time directly from your dashboard under Settings → Subscription, or by emailing hey@memsy.chat. When you cancel:

  • Any book that has already entered production for the current cycle is finished and shipped to you.
  • No further books are printed and no further charges are made to your payment method.
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Partial periods are not refunded, consistent with how subscription services operate across the industry.
  • To stop the upcoming book before it is produced, cancel before the cut-off date shown in your dashboard.

4. Defective or damaged books

This policy does not affect your statutory consumer-protection rights. If your book arrives with a manufacturing defect (printing error, binding problem, missing or misordered pages) or is damaged in transit, we will reprint and reship the book at no cost to you, or, at your choice, issue a full refund for that book. Email a photo of the issue within 14 days of delivery to hey@memsy.chat and we will take it from there. We may ask a few questions to diagnose the issue and prevent it from recurring on the reprint.

5. One-time reorders

Reprints ordered through the “order again” feature are one-time purchases of an already-produced book. Because they are likewise custom-made to a single copy, the same final-sale rule applies once the reprint enters production; the defect-and-damage protection in Section 4 applies to reorders in the same way as to subscription books.

6. How and when refunds are issued

Where a refund is due under this policy or applicable law, we issue it to the original payment method, with no additional cost to you, and normally initiate it within 14 days of receiving your eligible request. Depending on your bank or payment provider, it may take a few additional business days for the credit to appear on your statement.
